My personal library artwork 1: Sarah Bolden's Hang Loose

This is the first piece of real artwork to go up in my personal library went up today. It is a charcoal by my wife that I call "Hang Loose". It is based on a joke I made once ("When you get to the end of rope, hang loose," as a banal fortune cookie contrasted to a hanged person). She brought the concept to life with great effect, incorporating several "Dougisms" into the work. The hanging rope becomes a spiral. The hanged man is faceless and rag-dollish. There is the collusion of icons—happy-go-lucky fortune cookie versus hanged man. Greyscale. Etc. Etc. She did this back in 2005 for me but I am just now getting around to hanging it. My apologies.
